CSE and UMSI team up for homecoming tailgate

Alums, faculty, and staff from UMSI and CSE came together to celebrate the Michigan homecoming football game.

This past weekend, on Saturday, September 14, CSE joined forces with the University of Michigan School of Information (UMSI) to host a tailgate in preparation for the homecoming football game against Arkansas State. Alums, faculty, and staff from both units congregated on Ferry Field near the Big House to celebrate all things U-M, as well as enjoy some snacks and games.

Guests were treated to fresh veggies, charcuterie, and barbecue, along with cool beverages. Also scattered throughout the event was swag from both CSE and UMSI, including sunglasses, buttons, and drink koozies. In addition to plenty of mingling, attendees enjoyed rounds of cornhole, jumbo connect four, and frisbee-tossing, among other activities.

This year’s joint tailgate highlights the growing partnership between UMSI and CSE, particularly as the two units prepare to become neighbors in the soon-to-be-completed Leinweber Building on North Campus.

“We look forward to sharing a space with the School of Information in the near future, and we hope that this is one of many future collaborations between our two units,” said Atul Prakash, Richard H. Orenstein Chair of Computer Science and Engineering.
