ECE Master’s student Kamal Rudra has been named a JN Tata Scholar by The J.N. Tata Endowment for the Higher Education of Indians and Tata Education and Development Trust.

This honor is reserved for outstanding graduate students from India who are studying overseas. Students are initially given a loan based on multiple aspects including academic excellence, thinking skills assessment, and technical interviews, and only the most successful receive a monetary gift; Rudra numbers among those who received a gift scholarship.

“The J.N. Tata Endowment Scholarship has been an important stepping stone for my graduate studies,” said Rudra.

Rudra works in the field of materials, optoelectronics, and photonics. He is also an ECE Student Ambassador. He has several publications and conference presentations, and has previously received an IEEE EDS Masters Student Fellowship, a SPIE Laser Technology, Engineering, and Applications Scholarship and a J.A.
